Poul Henningsen (1894–1967) was a Danish architect, designer, and cultural innovator, widely celebrated for his groundbreaking contributions to modern lighting design. Born in Copenhagen, Henningsen trained as a designer and quickly became known for his innovative approach to light, focusing on minimizing glare while creating functional and aesthetically pleasing illumination.
He is best known for the PH series of lamps, including the iconic PH Artichoke Lamp (1958), designed for the Langelinie Pavilion in Copenhagen. Henningsen’s designs combine engineering precision with sculptural beauty, making them timeless pieces of Danish modern design.
